A superb example of a period French Louis XVI black and white marble mantel clock.  The twin gilt decorated marble obelisks support the drum on which rests a biscuit figure of Euterpe; original silk-string movement; the white enamel dial with Arabic numerals is signed Ch. Bertrand, Hger de L'Acadamie Royal des Sciences; circa 1790.
